Czech Republic to accept first refugees in September

Xinhua, July 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic is due to accept the first refugees who are applying for the country's asylum in September, with 400 of them to be accepted by the end of the year, Czech State Secretary for European Affairs Tomas Prouza said Friday.

Czech Deputy Interior Minister Jiri Novacek said the municipalities would receive instructions on how to work with the refugee families and on finances to cover the services involved.

According to Novacek, the refugees would receive assistance in integration into society. Prouza said the fears of those worried about the arrival of refugees are "absolutely unrealistic" and "irrational."

Upon their arrival in the Czech Republic, the refugees will stay in centers and wait for their asylum claims to be proceeded.

The Czech government approved the acceptance of a total of 1,500 refugees by the end of 2017.

Representatives of the Czech interior, labor, regional development ministries, trade unions and churches formed a working group to consult on the refugee issue. Endit
