Gambia police contingents set for another UN Mission in Darfur

Police contingents from Gambia Police Force will be leaving for Darfur for United Nations peacekeeping operation on Saturday, officials told Xinhua on Friday.

Over 100 personnel including men and women will join the other troops from other African countries to restore peace in protracted region of Darfur.

The police contingents will be under UN Civil Police mainly called CIPOLE which will last for one and half year mission.

Every year Gambia sends 196 to 200 personnel from Military and police for peacekeeping mission in the region.

"The men and women were under different UN mission training under the cadre of UN instructors and some local police instructors who are well trained by United Nations," according to police hierarchy, at police Headquarters in Banjul.

"They were trained on different modules of UN Peacekeeping methodologies and skills to ensure professionalism in their work", police said. Endi
