Update: Kyrgyz security service kills at least four suspected terrorists in capital

Xinhua, July 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Kyrgyz security service said it killed four suspected international terrorists and arrested seven others here in the capital on Thursday.

According to the press service of the National Security State Committee (NSSC), the suspects had planned to carry out a series of bombing attacks against prayers during Friday's Eid al-Fitr celebration in Kyrgyzstan.

The NSSC said it carried out two special operations, one in the outskirts of Bishkek and the other in the center of the capital. During the second, four suspects were killed and seven arrested after a firefight.

An NSSC official who required not to be named told Xinhua that two other suspects were also killed in the operations.

The sites of the operations were still cordoned off on Friday morning, and some special services officers were busy cleaning up and conducting investigations.

Local media reported that the suspected terrorists are related to Islamic State and other extremist terrorist organizations. Endi
