Munich Airport reports record passenger number in H1

Xinhua, July 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Munich Airport has achieved growth in all traffic segments in the first half of 2015 and the number of passengers hits a new record, the airport has said.

About 19.4 million passengers have passed through the airport in the first six months, increasing by 3.5 percent compared to the same period in 2014, according to the statistics released by Munich Airport on Thursday.

"As we announced in January, we're well on the way to topping the 40 million mark for the first time in a calendar year," said Michael Kerkloh, president and CEO of Munich Airport.

Meanwhile, the number of take-offs and landings also rises by 1.1 percent after three years of declining figures to more than 186,000 aircraft movements in the first half year.

In addition, the five-star airport reported that growth in the air cargo business is even more robust than in the passenger segment. A total of 156,000 tons of flown airfreight represented a 12 percent year-on-year gain in the volume of goods handled at the airport. Endit
