Beijing GDP up 7 percent in H1

Beijing's GDP during the first half of this year grew by 7 percent from the same period last year, the local government announced on Friday.

According to information released during a meeting on Beijing's economic situation, the city's energy consumption per 10,000 yuan (1,611 U. S. dollars) of GDP during the first half dropped by over 6 percent from that of the same period last year.

During that period of time, some 40.8 percent of the city's fixed asset investment came from private investors. Its online and information consumption recorded a growth of 38.9 and 56.9 percent year on year respectively.

Additionally, the number of new sci-tech-oriented enterprises in Beijing grew by 29.5 percent. Finance, information services and sci-tech services jointly contributed 73.3 percent to the city's economic growth during the first half. Endi
