Xinhua, July 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Despite the harsh living conditions and displacement they have been suffering and forced to accept, the displaced Syrians in Lebanon have been preparing to celebrate the Eid which marks the last day of fasting of the Ramadan month, with the hope that it would bring joy and happiness to their children.

In the randomly erected "Saghbin" camp, displaced Hamda Abou Ali, who left her devastated town of Homs, was busy preparing the traditional Eid desserts for her nine children "to put a smile on their faces and make them feel some joy."

From inside the tent of Um Alia al-Debaissi, who was displaced from Idlib to an encampment in the West Bekaa village of Qaraon, the smell of cakes and "katayef" was bringing the attention of the passers-by.

"I saved the money I was collecting from my work as housemaid so I can prepare these traditional pastries for the Eid," she said.

The al-Omari tribe leader Sheikh Shadi al-Omari, was instructing few young tribesmen to prepare a large tent that would serve in the middle of Ibl al-Saki plains as a mosque where he would deliver the Eid speech.

"It would be about the necessity of being patient and facing the hardships of life," he told Xinhua.
