Paramilitary troops in Pakistan' s southern port city of Karachi raided the headquarters of a powerful political group and arrested at least two senior leaders, the Mutahida Qaumi Movement or MQM said on Friday.
A spokesman for the paramilitary force Rangers said the raid was conducted to arrest those who have delivered "hate speeches." (Pakistan-Raid)

MANILA -- At least nine people were killed and six others were missing after a coal mine collapsed in Semirara Island in the central Philippine province of Antique on Friday due to heavy monsoon rain, said the country's Department of Energy.

NEW DELHI -- Indian government has approved investment by private persons or entities in modernizing some 400 railway stations across the country, said local media on Friday.
The government also cleared a plan to expand a highway in northern India from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh states outside Delhi which could ease air pollution in Delhi by enabling trucks and other vehicles passing through the region to bypass the capital. ( India-Railway Project)

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced Friday that his government will revise the building plan of the new National Stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games thoroughly as its skyrocketing costs has triggered strong public criticism, local media reported Friday.
