Lebanon's Hezbollah reiterates call for political solution in Syria

Xinhua, July 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Lebanese Shiite militant party Hezbollah said on Friday that only "a political solution will end the crisis in Syria," calling on all countries to stop fuelling the crisis.

"All Syrians want a solution to end the crisis in their country because they are all convinced that only a political solution can end it, but there are whom are preventing them by pushing the idea of a regime fall," said Hezbollah Chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a televised address commemorating "The Quds (Jerusalem) Day."

As for his party's military intervention alongside the regime's forces, Nasrallah noted that the party's fighters who are dying in Syria are making sacrifices for the sake of "resistant Syria, Lebanon and Palestine."

He urged local sides to never bet on regional or international situations, reiterating that Syria is still strong and will survive to win finally.

He added that "we side with Syria and we support Syria and the Syrian popular needs. We are against destroying the Syrian state."

Hezbollah is allied with the Syrian army and fights alongside it since shortly after Syria's crisis began in March 2011. Endit
