Chinese special forces win award at international recon competition

Xinhua, July 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Leishen Commando, an airborne special forces group of China's air force, has won the second place award at an international competition of special reconnaissance groups.

Ten teams from countries including Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Belarus and the United States took part in the Altyn Yki-2015 competition held in Kazakhstan, said Shen Jinke, spokesman with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, on Thursday.

The five-day competition began on June 29. The Kazakhstani team won the top award.

Altyn Yki-2015 is a high-level international competition for special forces focusing on comprehensive combat skills and is held under difficult conditions resembling actual combat, Shen said.

Through the competition, Chinese special forces not only learned from foreign counterparts but also developed friendship with them, he said.

The Leishen Commando was founded in 2011 and has participated in four joint drills abroad. Endi
