Myanmar's anti-human trafficking authorities said on Friday they had exposed a total of 66 human trafficking cases in the first half of this year.

During the past six months, more than 200 victims including 17 child victims were rescued and most victims were sold as fraudulent marriage partners and forced laborers in neighboring countries.

More than 100 human traffickers were arrested and 59 suspects remain on the run.

In 2014, a total of 245 human traffickers were arrested in 124 cases.

Statistics show that from 2006 to June this year, a total of 1, 189 human trafficking cases were exposed with 2,144 traffickers being arrested and more than 2,000 victims rescued.

Myanmar enacted the Anti-Human Trafficking Law in September 2005.

The Southeast Asian country has pledged anti-human trafficking activities in collaboration with the international community including UN organizations, and international and local non- governmental organizations. Endi
