Jordan on Thursday signed a loan deal with the Arab Monetary Fund worth 58 million U.S. dollars, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Minister of Finance Umayyh Toukan said the loan will be used to support financial reforms and the Jordanian economy.

He added the loan will help support Jordan which is providing service to 1.5 million Syrian refugees.

The loan comes at an important time when Jordan is facing several challenges due to regional condition and unrest in neighboring countries.

The loan signed Thursday increases the total volume of loans extended by the fund to Jordan to 607 million U.S. dollars over the past years. Endit
