Tokyo shares end mixed on rebound in Chinese market

Tokyo shares ended mixed on Thursday with its benchmark Nikkei stocks index recovering from morning's plunge and ending higher following a rebound in the Chinese stock market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 117.86 points, or 0. 60 percent, higher from Wednesday at 19,855.50.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.59 points, or 0.16 percent, to 1,579.89.

Gainers were led by insurance and utilities, while land transport, and pulp and paper led decliners.

The turnover was about 3,840.9 billion yen (about 31.70 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
