Chinese stocks staged a strong rally minutes after the afternoon trade started on Thursday.

As of 13:30, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index surged nearly 5 percent while the Shenzhen Component Index gained 4 percent.

This came after the government's fresh efforts to stem the stock market slide, as the key Shanghai index shedding nearly one third from its June peak. Endi
