Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday confirmed the death of 44 persons following a twin blast that rocked the central north city of Jos on Sunday night.

The agency's zonal director in charge of Jos, Mohammed Abdulsalam, who disclosed this to reporters in the Plateau State capital, said 48 others were seriously injured, and are hospitalized in various hospitals in Jos.

In a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, the government also condemned the twin bomb blast in the city of Jos and described the perpetrators as those who were eager at ensuring that the state did not enjoy any form of peaceful coexistence.

The government advised residents of the city to be vigilant, adding that security is everybody's business. Endi
