Large amount of explosives seized in Bangladesh

Xinhua, July 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

A large amount of explosives has been seized and four persons were arrested in Bangladesh capital Dhaka and southeastern seaport city Chittagong, some 242 southeast of capital Dhaka.

The Detective Branch of Bangladesh Police claimed to have seized 1,200kg of explosives materials in Dhaka and Chittagong in separate drives on Monday, DB Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam told journalists.

But he could not tell immediately whether the arrested persons are members of a militant group.

Bangladesh Police last week arrested 12 suspected militants including the chief of the al-Qaida in Indian Subcontinent and recovered explosives and bomb-making materials from their possessions. Endit
