At least one person was killed and 19 others were injured on Sunday evening in a blast in Pakistan's southwestern city of Quetta, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place when a huge blast hit the Bacha Khan chowk, a busy market cum cross road in the city.

At the time of the blast, a number of people were busy in shopping at the site.

Rescue teams, security forces and police rushed to the site and shifted the body and injured to the hospital.

Rescue officials said the death toll might further rise as a number of wounded persons were in critical condition.

At least three women and two children were among the injured.

According to the reports, the bomb was planted in a motorcycle and it was detonated with a remote controlled device. However, police did not confirm the nature of the blast.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. Endi
