Aldridge back home to play with Spurs

Xinhua, July 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Forward LaMarcus Aldridge announced on Twitter on Saturday that he chose to return to his hometown Texas and play with the San Antonio Spurs.

"I'm happy to say I'm going home to Texas and will be a Spur!! I'm excited to join the team and be close to my family and friends," wrote the Texan free agent, who grew up in Dallas.

Aldridge, who turns 30 later this month, received a four-year deal worth 80million US dollars, according to local media.

Coach Gregg Popovich led the Spurs to five titles, which may convince Aldridge to take the decision.

Drafted in 2006 by Chicago Bulls, Aldridge spent the first nine years of NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Aldridge played in 648 regular-season games with Portland, averaging 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds. He averaged 21.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists last season. Endi
