Players must have more say in FIFA reform, says soccer union

Theo van Seggelen, the secretaru general of the world footballers' union FIFPro, said Friday that soccer players must have more say in the reform of FIFA.

The Dutch man said change has to be done, and players must be included, as the soccer's ruling body has been rocked by corruption scandals.

"It is out of touch, and it repeatedly fails to administer its responsibility," Seggelen said.

"The widely criticized football governance structure provides inadequate room for the relevant stakeholders to take decisions that effect them," he added.

The involvement of players in the operation of FIFA is not enough, and football is runned by those who are not interested in the game, according to Seggelen.

"I think the players are the key to a reformed governing body, in which the game's administration would provide the checks and balance that are badly needed," Seggelen said there is no balance currently. Endi
