Host China beat Germany in straight sets Saturday evening for their second straight win at the FIVB World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament.
Star hitter Zhu Ting made 18 kills in 25 attempts to lead the Chinese women to the 25-15, 25-22 and 25-15 victory in 76 minutes.
Zhu also had two blocks and an ace to finish with a game-high 21 points and Yuan Xinyue, Zeng Chunlei and Hui Ruoqi each scored nine points.
The German team was led by Maren Brinker with 13 points with Margareta Kozuch adding 10.
The Chinese team was tested in the second set. It was 20-19 in favor of China before a short dink of Zhu Ting and a spiking error from Kozuch gave the Chinese a three-point cushion at 22-19. Germany beat off one set point as Kozuch came back with a kill, but Yuan Xinyue converted on the second with a smash.
"Germany is a very strong team, but they are missing some key players. We just try to play our game," said China head coach Lang Ping. "Their defense was very good in the second set while we were not patient enough."
Earlier on Saturday, Russia also collected their second win in two days by sweeping Dominican Republic 25-15, 25-22 and 25-8.
China and Russia will clash on Sunday evening to vie for the title of the four-team round robin tournament with Germany to play Dominican Republic. Endi
