Xinhua, July 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bangladesh received record 15.3 billion U.S. dollars in remittance from residents working abroad in the last fiscal year, a central bank official said on Thursday.

Remittance for the year of 2014-15 recorded a 7.5 percent rise from the previous year, Kazi Sayedur Rahman, general manager of Bangladesh Bank's foreign exchange said.

In the 2013-14 fiscal, Bangladesh received nearly 14.23 billion U.S. dollars in remittance.

The World Bank said some 15 billion U.S. dollars came as remittance in Bangladesh during the whole of 2014, what made the country eighth-largest remittance corridor.

With the recent reopening of the labor market in Saudi Arabia, experts say the remittance inflow in Bangladesh will rise even more in the coming days. Endi
