Police were responding to a report of an active shooter at the Washington Navy Yard in southeast of the U.S. capital Thursday morning, U.S. media reported.

VIENNA -- Europe is expected to be hit by a heat wave in the coming days with day temperature to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in some areas, the Austrian Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) said Wednesday.
Speaking to the Austria Press Agency, the ZAMG said a high-pressure area is currently developing over Europe, that is either blocking low-pressure areas primarily gathering from the Atlantic, or diverting them into northern Europe. (Europe-Heat Wave)

VIENNA -- There is "high possibility" of reaching a comprehensive, balanced Iranian nuclear deal by the July 7 deadline, Chinese Foreign Minster Wang Yi told reporters in Vienna on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD -- At least 12 people were killed, over 100 others injured and at least four people went missing when four compartments of a train fell into a canal while crossing a bridge in Pakistan's city of Gujranwala on Thursday afternoon, local media and officials said.
Dawn News said that the bridge collapsed when the train was crossing it in Janki Chatta area of Gujranwala, a district located in the country's east Punjab province. (Pakistan-Train Accident)

MANILA -- At least 36 people died and 26 others went missing after a passenger banca capsized in the waters off Ormoc City in central Philippines' Leyte province on Thursday afternoon, said Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Armando Balilo, PCG public affairs chief commander, said the passenger vessel M/B Nivrana-B was battered by huge waves and subsequently capsized about 200 meters off the port at around 12: 15 p.m. local time.
