Thousands of Colombians on Sunday welcomed the national team in Bogota's El Dorado International Airport, recently eliminated from Copa America.

With great joy, Colombians expressed their support to the team who was eliminated from Copa America after their defeat against Argentina in a tough match defined in penalty shootout.

Fans shouted support messages to the players and sought to take a picture with them. Meanwhile, the President of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Luis Bedoya, said despite the results were not as good as expected, the team stood out thanks to their dedication and fair play.

"We had high hopes to make greater progress, to play games during this week, but sadly we did not qualify, but we have to highlight the team's dedication," said Bedoya.

"The technical staff has already met with the team and in the next days we will meet with them to discuss the outcome of their participation in the championship," Bedoya added.

He also said the players will have a rest period in Colombia before they will return to their teams. The next games of the Colombian national team will be announced soon, he added. Endit
