Germany names Lake Geneva as Euro 2016 base camp

Xinhua, June 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

World Cup winners Germany will be based near Evian-Les-Bains on the French side of Lake Geneva for Euro 2016, the German football federation DFB said Thursday.

The DFB has booked the 80-room Ermitage hotel, which is located about 45 kilometers from Geneva airport.

"Compact quarters and short distances are important for us ... we have found them in Evian after travelling the whole country over the past months and having several options until the end," Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff was quoted by Deutsche Press-Agentur (DPA) as saying.

"We have excellent conditions to work, train and regenerate in peace at the Ermitage hotel. Lake Geneva and the Alps offer an impressive panorama."

Euro 2016 will be held between June 10 and July 10 in nine French cities. Endi
