Croatia celebrates statehood day

Croatia celebrated the 24th anniversary of its independence on Thursday.

On the occasion of Statehood Day, Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said: "The positive trend in the economy will continue in the following months and years. Croatia will be a successful country where citizens will live better."

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic called for unity, saying one of the serious challenges faced by the country is that of the demographic situation. "In the past 15 years we have lost 10 times more people than in the homeland war," said Grabar Kitarovic, inviting young people to stay in Croatia.

The Croatian parliament in 1991 formally proclaimed independence via a constitutional decision on sovereignty and independence from Yugoslavia. Endti
