Xinhua, June 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Tobruq Legacy 2015 air defence exercise started on Monday in the Czech Republic, with soldiers from Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia, the U.S. and the Czech Republic participating in the exercise in the Boletice training ground, said Czech military spokeswoman Jana Samcova.

The tactical exercise will last until July 3. Up to 500 soldiers from ground air-defence units are to join the exercise which will culminate with joint firing from short-range air defence systems from the armament of four militaries on July 2.

The U.S. will provide data transmission from the Control and Reporting Centre in Stara Boleslav, the Czech Republic, for the effective tracking of missiles to air targets. The Czech and Lithuanian troops will use the RBS-70 systems, the Hungarians will use the MISTRAL and the Slovaks the IGLA systems.

Colonel Vladimir Barca, who commands the Czech military's 25th Air Defence Missile Regiment that organises the exercise, said the Czech troops will train in controlling and commanding units of ground anti-aircraft units of NATO member states. They will gain valuable experience which they may use when deployed in allied operations. Endit
