Pet dog mauls newborn in Sydney

Xinhua, June 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

A seven-day-old Sydney baby girl was mauled by her families pet dog as she slept in her bassinet on Monday.

Her mother had just finished feeding her daughter at 3:30 a.m. and put her back in the bassinet at the end of the parent's bed.

Police said minutes later the baby began crying and the mother jumped up to find the Alaskan Malamute dog biting the baby's face.

The baby was rushed to hospital where she remained in a serious condition, but her injuries were not life threatening, police said.

The dog's fate has not yet been decided. It remained at the family home on Monday where it was filmed by media. Endi
