Eurozone construction production up by 0.1 pct in April

Xinhua, June 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector rose by 0.1 percent in the eurozone in April, compared with the previous month, the EU statistics office Eurostat said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the index in the 28-nation European Union (EU) fell by 0.3 percent in the same period.

The monthly growth in the eurozone is due to 0.5 percent increase of building construction and 1.8 percent decrease in civil engineering, Eurostat said.

In the EU, the monthly decrease is due to the 0.1 percent fall of building construction and 3.1 percent fall in civil engineering.

On a year-on-year basis, production in construction remained stable in the euro area and grew by 1.3 percent in the EU.

Among EU member states, the highest monthly increases in production in construction were observed in Slovakia, Romania and Sweden. The largest decreases were recorded in Slovenia, France and Portugal. Endit
