"Steppe Eagle-2015" peacekeeping drill continues in Kazakhstan

The second stage of the "Steppe Eagle-2015" international tactical exercises started at the Ili military range in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan on Monday.

The main purpose of the exercises is to enhance the ability of peacekeeping units to take coordinated actions to maintain peace during military conflicts.

During tactical activities, the peacekeepers will demonstrate their skills and have an opportunity to practice new skills in providing assistance to the population living in close proximity to armed clashes.

The Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation System will be used as part of the command-staff exercises. It allows for quick and flexible handle of the planning, management and use of units without the expense of resources and ammunition. Moreover, it enables military personnel to carry out all operations on the computer.

The first stage of the "Steppe Eagle-2015" exercises with the participation of peacekeepers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Britain and the United States was completed in Kazakhstan in April.

The "Steppe Eagle" exercises have been held annually since 2003. They are designed to check the ability of peacekeepers to perform complex tasks as a part of multinational forces and under a unified command. Every year more than 1,500 soldiers and officers take part in the event. Endi
