China delivers 200 sets of ultrasound machines to Cambodian hospitals

Xinhua, June 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese government on Monday provided 200 sets of ultrasound machines to Cambodia in order to contribute to the improvement of the country's health quality and services.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo handed over the equipment to Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng at a ceremony held at the Health Ministry's Drugstore on the outskirts of Phnom Penh in Dangkor district.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ambassador Bu expressed her confidence that the ultrasound machines would help Cambodian doctors to diagnose the exact character of patients' diseases so as to contribute to improving the effectiveness of treatment.

"I believe that these machines will be useful for hospitals to enhance the quality of treatment services, so patients will feel more confident in Cambodian health sector," she said.

Bunheng said the machines would be allocated to hospitals in all 25 cities and provinces in order to enhance the capacity of diagnosis.

He also expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their generous support to Cambodia.

China pledged to provide the machines to Cambodia in December last year during the 2nd meeting of China-Cambodia Inter- Governmental Coordination Committee, which was held in Phnom Penh under the co-chairmanship of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi.
