FIFA director of communications resigns

Walter De Gregorio on Thursday resigned as FIFA director of communications and public affairs.

FIFA confirmed in a statement that, Gregorio's deputy will replace him temporarily. And Gregorio will serve as a consultant in FIFA until the end of the year.

Gregorio had been in the position since 2011, when president Sepp Blatter announced his resignation on June 2, Gregorio was present.

Seven top FIFA officials were arrested by Swiss police at their Zurich hotel on May 27 on the request of U.S. authorities, one day before FIFA's 65th two-day congress took place.

According to Switzerland's Federal Office of Justice (FOJ), six out of the seven have contested their extradition to the U.S., giving American authorities 40 days to submit a formal extradition request.

Although the anti-corruption storm may help the world football governing body accelerate reforms in some way, it is more like a well-designed plan to achieve some geopolitical objectives.

Analysts now believe that FIFA crisis continues amid deepening investigations. Endit
