Xinhua, June 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Kazakhstan finalized 20-year-long negotiations on the conditions of accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Wednesday, according to a report published on the organization's website.

According to the WTO's report, the draft WTO Accession Package is to be submitted to the WTO Working Party on June 22.

The draft package contains the draft report of the Working Party on the reform of Kazakhstan's trade system with a description of the liabilities that the country takes on as a WTO member; a draft list of cessions and liabilities on goods; a draft list of specific liabilities on trade in services.

The WTO report highlights that the process of accession of Kazakhstan is further complicated by the negotiations on tariff adjustments due to Kazakhstan's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.

WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo called the completion of talks with Kazakhstan a historic step.

Vesa Himanen, chairman of the WTO Working Party, also congratulated the WTO members and the government of Kazakhstan with this "historic achievement and successful completion of 20-year-long negotiations." Endi
