Chinese VP meets Maldives President on cooperation

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Maldives President Abdulla Yameen on Thursday in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.
Hailing long-term friendship between the two countries, Li stressed China is willing to work with the Maldives to fully implement the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Yameen.
China is ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with the Maldives in economy, trade, infrastructure, tourism, ocean and other fields so as to better benefit the two peoples, said Li.
Yameen said the Maldives cherishes the traditional friendship with China, and is willing to push forward relevant cooperative projects and welcomes Chinese investment.
Li and Yameen witnessed the signing of some cooperation documents after the meeting.
The third China-South Asia Expo will be held from June 12 to 16 in Kunming. Li, Yameen and other leaders from the region will attend.
