India backs int'l donors' conference on Nepal rehabilitation: Modi

Xinhua, June 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said India backs an international donors' conference on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Nepal's earthquakes to be held later this month during a meeting with his Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala here.

The Indian prime minister's office said Koirala briefed Modi on the steps his government is taking for rehabilitation and reconstruction following the earthquakes in April and May 2015, which killed over 8,700 people.

He also invited Modi to visit Nepal on June 25 to address the First Donors' Conference. Earlier, Nepal sent Finance Minister Ram Chandra Mahat to Delhi with a personal invitation for the Indian prime minister, said the same source.

Modi said he would participate if his schedule permitted, adding that India would, in any case, be represented at a high ministerial level. Endi
