Albania to reform public broadcaster with European partners' help

Xinhua, June 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albania's public broadcaster RTSH on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), in a bid to improve its operation and services.

The MOU was signed at a workshop attended by representatives from the OSCE and the EBU, as well as board members of the RTSH and legal experts.

The main aim of the workshop was to share ideas and the vision of transforming the Albanian public broadcaster, and foster a harmonious relationship among the board members, top management and the editorial team in the transformation process.

According to the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, the workshop was part of the efforts of the OSCE Presence in Albania to help the RTSH's transformation into an independent, professional and sustainable public broadcaster.

In November 2013, the OSCE organized a conference on the reform of the Albanian public broadcaster. It also organized a regional workshop on media public services in November 2014, in close cooperation with the RTSH, the EBU, and UNESCO.

In March and April 2015, the OSCE and the EBU trained RTSH journalists on impartiality and electoral reporting. Endi
