The leader of Turkey's pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) said on Sunday that his party would keep its promise of not making coalition with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Turkey's NTV news channel reported.
The HDP exceeded the 10 percent national threshold to enter into the parliament, robbing the ruling AKP enough seats to establish the government alone or make amendment on the constitution.
It received 12.25 percent of the votes that will give the party close to 80 seats, according to the preliminary results available when Xinhua compiled the reports.
"We were expecting around 12 to 13 percent votes across Turkey," Selahattin Demirtas said in Istanbul on Sunday after the parliaments elections.
He said that one of the most important results of this election is that the AKP lowered its votes to zero in eastern Turkey as the AKP ignores the Kurdish problem.
The ruling AKP led the polls with 41.14 percent of votes across Turkey, down from almost 50 percent in the last parliamentary election held in 2011. Endit
