Norway smashes Thailand 4-0 to get first win in the World Cup

Xinhua, June 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Norway beat Thailand 4-0 to gain its first victory in the FIFA Women' s World Cup 2015 here on Sunday.

Trine Ronning' s powerful free-kick broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, the height of Thailand' s wall can' t stop the ball from finding the net.

In the 29th minute, Isabell Herlovsen enlarged their advantages to 2-0 after receiving the accurate pass from her teammate. Five minutes later, Herlovsen' s header terminated the game' s suspense before the half time whistle.

It was the first time that Thailand reached the World Cup' s group stage. The Asian team' s emphases were their wonderful speed and skillful pass, but they can' t shake Norway' s dominance throughout the game.

Thailand' s nightmare continued after the interval. Ada Hegerberg' s shot in a close range changed the score to 4-0 in the 68th minute, the substitute Elise Thorsnes made the assist.

Although Maren Mjelde missed the penalty chance in the 74th minute, Orathai Srimanee rattled the crossbar before the end.

Norway will face Germany in this Thursday, and Thailand will fight for their first goal in the World Cup in the game against Cote d'Ivoire in the same day. Endi
