More foreigners stay overnight in Icelandic hotels in April

The number of foreigners who stayed overnight in Icelandic hotels registered a year-on-year increase of 16 percent in April, official figures showed on Friday.

According to statistics issued by Statistics Iceland, the number of people who paid for accommodations in Icelandic hotels rose to 174,300 in April, a 11 percent increase from the figure of April 2014.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists accounted for 83 percent of the people who stayed in Icelandic hotels in April, up 16 percent compared with the figure in April 2014. The number of Icelandic citizens staying overnight in hotels decreased 10 percent over the same period.

Foreigners who stayed overnight in Iceland in April were mostly residents from Britain, the United States and Germany. Enditem
