German former chancellor Helmut Kohl in intensive care: media

Xinhua, June 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl is staying in the intensive care unit at the University Hospital after a bowel resection surgery, German media reported on Tuesday.

Based on information from persons close to the former German chancellor, German weekly magazine Bunte reported that the 85-year-old has been unconscious after the operation for a long time.

However, the University Hospital of Heidelberg can not confirm the report due to data protection for their patients, said a spokesman to Xinhua, adding that the hospital will not give any statement on it.

In 2008, Helmut Kohl suffered a concussion after a fall down the stairs. He had to be operated at the time immediately. Since then, he has been in a wheelchair. Endit
