Spain's unemployment sees biggest drop in May

The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain fell by 2.72 percent from April to May, the biggest drop for May since records began.

The drop meant 117,985 fewer people unemployed in the country, leaving a total of 4,215,031 people registered as unemployed.

The Ministry said that on a year-on-year basis, the number of people registered as unemployed had fallen by 357,354 people, a 7.82 percent fall in comparison with a year earlier.

Spain's State Secretary for Employment Engracia Hidalgo said this data confirmed a positive trend, pointing out that hiring was steadily growing. Endit
