1st LD Writethru: JMA issues alerts over volcano eruption in Kagoshima, SW Japan

The Japanese Meteorological Agency ( JMA) issued level-5 alert to Kuchinoerabu island after a volcano eruption on the island off Japan's southwest prefecture of Kagoshima in Friday morning.

The eruption took place at around 10:00 a.m. local time. The JMA alert means local residents need to evacuate from the region.
