UAE, Kuwait port giants keen to boost cruise tourism

Xinhua, May 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Officials of Dubai Ports (DP) and Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) discussed here on Monday ways of boosting cruise tourism in the Arab Gulf.

During a meeting here, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of DP World, stressed the importance of cooperation to upgrade the ports' operational efficiency in the Gulf region.

Dubai was committed to stepping up cooperation with KPA, "in line with our efforts to share our experiences with port operators in the GCC," he said.

For his part, Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Al-Sabah, KPA director general, said that his visit to Dubai was aimed at identifying the latest technologies used in port management.

"We seek to gain knowledge about the latest developments in marine and commercial ports management from our brothers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)," he said.

In August 2014, Dubai introduced a multiple-entry visa, which is expected to boost cruise tourism further, the official Dubai tourism body DTCM said. Endit
