Angry Alves opens door to Barcelona departure

Xinhua, May 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona' s Brazilian international right back, Dani Alves looks to be on his way out of the club when his contract expires at the end of June.

32-year-old Alves, who joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2008 has been a key part of the club' s triumphs in recent seasons, but has so far not agreed to extend his current deal to remain at the Camp Nou.

His sister gave a press conference two months ago in which she said that negotiations over the new deal had broken down and speaking on Monday, just 2 days after his club were presented with the BBVA Primera Liga title, and ahead of the forthcoming King' s Cup and Champions League finals, Alves insisted he and Barcelona were a long way from reaching an agreement.

"I am smart enough not to cause problems with two finals still to play, but I want to defend myself against some of the stupid things that have been said," insisted the defender.

"I am 200 percent with the team, but just 10 percent with the club," continued Alves, who added he had "one foot, my head and half of my body outside of the club where I have spent the last seven years."

Alves showed himself to be angry with a club which "six months ago didn' t want to extend my contract, but then after the FIFA sanction which stopped them making signings, announced they wanted to renew my deal."

"I would like to stay at Barca, but not at any price. There has to be some respect and if they don' t I will look for somewhere where they will respect me," he fumed. Endi
