Indonesia eyes 5 swimming golds at SEA Games

Xinhua, May 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indonesia targets five gold medals in swimming at the SEA Games in Singapore in June 2015.

Albert Christiadi Sutanto, trainer at the Indonesian swimming association, said Thursday that he is upbeat over the capability of his athletes to vie with their opponents, so that the five-gold target could be achieved.

The trainer said that the association would rely much on short-distance numbers for the medals.

"We decide to focus on short-distance sport number. If for long distance, we could not," he said at his office.

"Our focus now is to lift the power and speed of the athletes," said Albert.

Chairman of the association Sandiaga Uno said that actually there is still open an opportunity for the Indonesian athletes to get gold medals beyond the target.

"But we are realistic with the current condition, such as the tight competition in the ASEAN region," he said. Endi
