Seoul shares ended lower on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) slid 16. 73 points, or 0.78 percent, to 2,122.81 at the close. Trading volume stood at 392.88 million shares worth 5.6 trillion won (5.1 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo shares ended slightly higher on Thursday as the yen lost its fast depreciation speed in the morning and the forex change impacted the optimism over domestic earnings.

The turnover was about 2,799.9 billion yen (about 23.10 billion U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Thursday up 0.18 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 2.54 points to 1,417.14. A total of 205,672 shares worth about 1.22 billion Lao kip (about 99,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 552.56 points on Thursday, up 2.46 points or 0.45 percent against the previous trading day's closing session.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 578.64 points, up 6.3 points or 1.1 percent.

A total of 58.828 million shares worth 1.310 trillion VND (60. 48 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Thursday.
