Armed man goes on rampage in asylum center near Munich

Xinhua, May 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

An armed man with a knife went on a rampage in an asylum center near Munich, police reported Thursday.

The incident triggered a large-scale operation early morning in the community of Steinhoering, some 50 km east of Munich.

After receiving an emergency call, a special unit rushed to the scene and evacuated the center, where 27 people live.

The 25-year-old armed man at first threw objects at police from the second floor, injuring three police officers. But the police were able to arrest him later and found the man from Eritrea obviously drunk.

With the situation under control, people living in the asylum center were allowed back and the affected road was reopened.

At the moment, the suspect is under investigation for aggravated assault and threat, according to the police. Endit
