Morocco dismantles IS recruitment cell

Xinhua, May 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Morocco said on Tuesday that it dismantled a cell suspected of recruiting fighters for the Islamic State (IS) group.

The busted network operated in the cities of Casablanca and Boujniba, the Moroccan Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Investigations revealed that the network was plotting to create dormant cells to perpetrate "terrorist" schemes in the North African country, the ministry added.

The members of the cell had extensive knowledge of how to make explosives, and were planning with Moroccan IS fighters to attack key facilities in Morocco, the statement added. Endit
