Israeli stabbed in the West Bank

Xinhua, May 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Israeli was moderately injured Monday morning in a stabbing attack near a West Bank checkpoint, Israeli officials said.

Police said the 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back by a young man, apparently a Palestinian, near the Al-Zaim checkpoint, west of Jerusalem.

Police have launched a search for the assailant.

The incident came amid a wave of individual attacks by Palestinians in West Bank and Jerusalem.

In April, Israeli police shot and killed a knife-wielding Palestinian youth near Al-Zaim checkpoint after he attempted to attack them.

Israel seized the West Bank in the 1967 Mideast war and has controlled it ever since in an act condemned by the international community. Endit
