Tokyo stocks rise 1.25 pct after U.S. jobs growth

Tokyo stocks rose 1.25 percent on Monday as robust U.S. jobs data improved investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 241.72 points, from Friday at 19,620.91. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 10.57 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,598.33.

Gainers were led by oil and coal products, wholesale trade as well as warehousing and harbor transportation issues.

The turnover was 2,846.8 billion yen (about 23.75 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
