S.Korea's car production reduce on weak exports

Xinhua, May 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

South Korea's auto production reduced last month on the back of sluggish exports, a government report showed Monday.

Car production in domestic factories was 424,402 vehicles in April, up 2.2 percent from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The reduction came as auto exports declined 6 percent from a year earlier to 282,019 units in April on faltering demand from emerging economies, especially from Russia and Latin America.

Domestic car sales increased 3.4 percent from a year earlier to 152,834 vehicles last month due to the continued growth in foreign luxury car demand.

Foreign car sales jumped 14.7 percent on-year to 20,831 units in April, with sales of South Korean products rising 2.7 percent to 132,003 vehicles. Endi
