6 killed as blast hits vehicle in NW Pakistan

At least six people including a tribal elder were killed when a bomb hit a vehicle in Pakistan's northwest tribal region of Bajaur on Monday morning, local media reported.

Samaa News said that the pro-government tribal leader Muhammad Jan was going to a neighboring village with his friends in the vehicle when it was hit by a roadside planted device in Mamund area of Bajaur Agency, a tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The killed people included the leader and his five friends who were in the vehicle which was completely destroyed in the explosion, while several passers-by got injured.

Police said that the bomb was triggered off by a remote controlled device as soon as the vehicle passed by it.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
